Maintenance

As moving components, HUGA door elements are often subject to heavy wear and tear.

To ensure that the door maintains its specific functional qualities, such as fire, smoke or sound insulation, it is vital that it is hung correctly, and that the fittings and sealing elements are in perfect operating order.

Always follow the maintenance instructions provided by the manufacturer of the fittings.

At least once a year (depending on frequency of use) we recommend the following checks and maintenance:

Hinges:

- Unless they are maintenance-free, oil or - preferably - lubricate the hinges with graphite-based lubricant (e.g. Molikote).

Locks:

- Check that the bolt and the latch are working correctly; if necessary pull back the latch and spray graphite oil into the lock case (lubricating the latch bolt lightly will ensure a smooth action).

Door frame seal:

- Replace damaged seals (re-order). Use only original HUGA sealing profiles.

Floor seal:

- Monitor function and closing pressure along the entire length of the floor seal. Adjust if necessary, replace if defective.

Electric door opener:

- Virtually maintenance-free (at most, lightly lubricate anti-thrust bolt joint and surfaces).

Closing mechanism:

- Check the closing action of the door at regular intervals to ensure that the closer is functioning properly. The closing pressure/latching action etc. may need adjusting (refer to manufacturer's installation instructions).

- Lubricate the movable metal components of top door closers.

Immobilising systems:

- Immobilising systems must be kept in good working order by the operator, and should be monitored at least once a month.

- At least once a year the operator must check that all the equipment is interacting perfectly, and either carry out or organise a full service – unless a shorter period of time is stipulated in the approval notification. This inspection and service must be carried out by a professional technician or specially trained person. Extent, outcome and date of periodic inspections must be recorded. These records are to be retained by the operator.

Other equipment:

- Follow the maintenance instructions of the relevant manufacturer
